[00:00] In this lesson, we'll learn how to unactivate a license. For a given license key a limited amount of simultaneous activations are allowed. Therefore, if you wanted to transfer your active license to a different gateway, you would first need to unactivate it, which will provide the grant to activate the license elsewhere. Let's navigate to the licensing page in our gateway to see how we can do this. Click on the platform tab and expand system and click licensing. We can see here I have this active license, LRN-IGN, and if we wanted to unactivate it, we could simply click on this more options menu and choose the unactivate option. We'll get a popup window letting us choose the method for unactivation. Let's keep it set to online for now, as I do have an internet connection. From here, we can click on the unactivate license button, and this will let Inductive Automation servers know that you have unactivated your gateway, and it will give the license key a new grant, so we could come back to this licensing page on the server we want to activate the license for and go through the activation process.

[01:07] I'll do that quickly for my LRN-IGN license, and we'll see it's been activated. Let's walk through the unactivation process again, but this time choose the offline method, which is meant for ignition servers not connected to the internet. So we'll click on the more options button and select unactivate. We'll make sure to select offline unactivation for the method and click on next. The first step on this page is to download and univation request by clicking on this activate license button. This will download an unactivate_message.txt file. From here, we would transfer this file to a device that has an internet connection, and then follow step two. This instructs us to open the Inductive Automation activation webpage. We'll do so by copying the link with this copy to clipboard button and paste that into our address bar. On this webpage we'll upload the unactivation request down in this bottom section here titled Unactivated Ignition.

[02:05] We'll click on the choose file button and select the unactivation underscore message file. Finally, we can click on the upload unactivation notice button to finish the process and provide our license a new grant.
