(open in window)[00:00] In a web browser, if you navigate to the gateway's IP address and then the port that Ignition is running on, you're typically taken to the home page where we can do things like download the Designer Launcher, or launch a Perspective session. However, you can actually change where the gateway sends you when you navigate to the gateway's IP and the port number. To do so, we need to go into the Configure section in the Gateway web page. I'm going to go ahead and log in here. And then on the left-hand side, we're going to go to the page called Gateway Settings underneath the Systems section. In the Gateway Settings page, we're going to scroll down just a little bit until we find a property called Homepage Redirect URL. This property allows us to change where the gateway redirects us to when we navigate to the gateway's IP and the port number. In this case, you can see that the default is /web/home, which will actually take us to the gateway home page. However, you can also put a fully qualified URL in here. Such as https://inductiveautomation.com. And then when you navigate to the gateway's IP address and then the port number, the gateway will automatically redirect you to that website. This property is particularly powerful when it's combined with Perspective. New in Ignition 8, the Perspective Module allows you to create a new project that runs in a web browser. Because the Perspective project is running in a web browser, it has its own URL, just like any other website would. If I wanted to, I can change this home page redirect URL property to the URL for my Perspective project. Now that I have that set, I can scroll down to the bottom of the page and I can click on the Save Changes button. Now that that redirect has been set, I can go ahead and test it out. I'm going to open up a new tab, and I'm going to try going to localhost:8088 again. This time however, you'll notice that it actually loads my Perspective project. Because you can completely customize the way your Perspective project looks, you can create a sort of landing page or your own version of the Home page within a Perspective project that can do whatever you need it to do, and look and feel however you want. For example, my project here is just a simple project that redirects users to one of two particular projects, project one or project two. The redirect property allows you to really customize the user experience for your gateway.
