[00:00] Let's take a look at how we would connect to a DNP3 device in Ignition. First, we're going to log in to the configure section of the gateway webpage and go to the devices page. Here, we're going to want to click on create new device link and then select the DNP3 driver option. Now, this option only shows up if you have the DNP3 module installed. Once that's done, we're going to scroll down and hit the next button. We can then give a name to our device connection. I will call mine DNP3 and then there're only a couple other options we need to worry about. First, the host name which is the IP address of our device: mine is 10.20.1.108. And then, the source address and destination address. These two properties will actually be configured in the DNP3 device itself except in Ignition, they're reversed. So, for example, if the source address in the DNP3 device is a four and the destination address is a three, then here in Ignition, our source address, which is the destination address from the DNP3 device, is going to be three and the destination address, which is the source address in the DNP3, is going to be a four. This would allow it to properly connect to using the settings I have configured here. Finally, the last property that's really important is the unsolicited messages enabled property. When that property is enabled, it will allow Ignition to accept unsolicited messages. What this means is that Ignition will first communicate with the device when the connection is set up and then it will not request any more data instead choosing to passively listen for any data that's being sent from the device. You would also need to set this up within your DNP3 device and not all DNP3 devices support doing this. So, it's important to know if your device can or can't. Once we have all that setup, we can then go and hit the create new device button at the bottom. And then, our status will either say idle or connected depending on the settings we've used in the connection.
