(open in window)[00:00] Individual resources inside of an ignition project can be locked. Here I have a vision project open in my designer. Specifically, my window here is open. I can right click on my window and I can select to protect it. Doing so will now show a little lock on my windows icon. What does this mean exactly? Protector resources or resources that can only be edited by selected users who have the required roles. This basically means that you can prevent a resource from being edited, but users will have access to your designer. You can select which user roles are required to modify a protected resource by heading to project, project properties. And under the project permissions, you will see a protect resources section. This means that users with the roles listed here will be able to modify the resources in the project marked as protected. This is often used in scenarios where development work is finished on a window and no further changes should be made to it. Other projects like vision templates or alarm pipelines are often protected so they may be used, but not modified. Users with a required role are allowed to modify the resource but, a message will appear informing them that the resource is protected and will be asked how to proceed. What if I do not have the required roles to be able to edit a protector resource. Let's log in with a different user to see what this will look like. I am now logged in with a user with operator roles, meaning that I do not have the required roles to edit protector resources. If I try and open my protected window here, you will get an error telling you that you do not have the permissions to edit the resource.
