LESSON
Learn how to restrict Perspective Session access to users with a username and password.
Video recorded using: Ignition 8.1
[00:00] In this lesson, I'll demonstrate how to require users to authenticate before accessing a Perspective project. By default Perspective will be set up with the public security level selected so that anyone has access to it. However, this can be changed to require users to log in. To do this, I'll go to my Designer and I'll open the project properties. On the project general page, I'll find the security settings. From here, I'll need to set an identity provider for the project. Security in Perspective is managed through identity providers, which are configured in the gateway. I'll include a link to our user manual page on identity providers if you need a refresher on them. Once I have an identity provider selected, I'll go down to the Perspective Permissions page. This will show the available security levels on my gateway. I can click next to a checkbox to select a security level, and I can select multiple levels if desired. Then I can use the radio buttons at the bottom to declare whether or not users must have all the selected levels or just one of them to launch a Perspective session.
[01:05] I'm just gonna select the authenticated security level and click OK. Then I'll save my project. Now, when I launch a Perspective session, I'll be prompted to log in. Then once I've logged in, I can start interacting with the project.
