Learn how to add users to Ignition who can receive alarms. Each user has a name and contact information in order for Ignition to contact them. Users can receive alarm notifications in SMS, phone (voice dialout), and email.

[00:00] (cheerful music) This lesson will demonstrate how to add contact details to an individual user and enable them to receive alarm notifications of different types. To do this, let's navigate to the platform section of the Gateway webpage, find Security, and click User Sources. I've created some users in my default user source, so I'll click the three dots menu to the right and click Manage Users. Let's explore the users and take a look at how we can add contact information to deliver our notifications. I wanna add contact info for Mary, so I'll click on the three dots menu for her user and select Edit. There are a number of notification-related settings that can be tailored to each user. The first is the Schedule dropdown here. We can set up users so they're only notified of alarms when the users are active and if they're scheduled to work when an alarm is triggered. If you're interested in how to configure schedules, we'll go over that process in another video. Below the Schedule field is a Language field, which will let us choose a specific target language for this user's notifications.
[01:06] It is possible to have multiple voice modules or languages installed, and depending on what's filled out in this field, notifications will be sent to Mary in the most closely associated language. If we continue to scroll down, we'll find the User Contact Information section. This is where we can add an email address or a phone number where notifications should be sent. Let's click Add, and then we can use the Type dropdown to choose Email. Next, we can put in Mary's email address and click the Save icon. If we wanna add more contact info, we can go through the same basic process, but choose SMS as the type and enter Mary's phone number, so she can receive SMS notifications. Once again, we click the Save icon, and now Mary has an email address and a phone number as contact options. Before I click the Save Changes button, let's take a quick look at the Security PIN in the extended properties. Entering a value in this field enables a security prompt requiring the user to enter their PIN before they can view the content or hear the audio of an alarm notification. This can prevent anyone from getting the message except for the intended user, even if someone else has access to their phone. Now that we're finished making modifications, I'll click Save Changes. Our user Mary is ready to receive both email and SMS-based alarm notifications.
