Let's take a look at an example of connecting to a Siemens S7 device. We'll start off in the gateway in the configure section, and then we'll scroll down to the familiar OPC UA Device connections page. Next, we'll click on the create new device link, and we'll scroll down this long list of drivers we have until we get to the Siemens section. You can see we have four drivers here, and of course, each one pertains to a specific series of device, so 1200, 1500, 300 and 400. Now for this video, I'm going to be connecting to a 1200 series device, but the following steps would be the same regardless of which one of these you use. Before we move on, I do wanna point out for the 1200 and 1500 series, there are some device site configurations and considerations that need to be made when using our drivers. For a list of all the considerations and configurations, please see the Siemens section of the Ignition User manual, which I've linked below this video.

So we'll continue here and select the S71200 and click the next button. We need to name this connection, so let's call this S71200. Under connectivity, we need to specify a host name. I'm just going to paste in the IP address of my device. Now, technically that's all we have to do. I do want to point out though that we do have some advanced properties down below. I'm going to leave these as the default settings, but if you wanted to or needed to change the port or the PDU size, anything like that, these properties do exist here. Again, I'm not making any changes, so I'll just click the create new device button down below. The status will start off as disconnected but in just a moment changes to connected, and that's it. we're connected. The next step is to create some tags, but we'll take a look at how to do that in a later video.
